Advent Calendar

Advent Calendar

I love Christmas. It's easily my favorite holiday. I grew up in a home that always went all out when it came to holiday decorating, so it's been super fun to do that for my own little family! We have this big old bulletin board (that has definitely seen better days) in our kitchen that I felt would make a perfect temporary advent calendar. My intention was to spend all of November writing down things we were thankful for and stuffing the envelopes with those. Then we would open the envelopes on each day of December and read them together and eat a small chocolate...well after I finally finished making this I was sort of spent so my best intentions went unfulfilled...next year right?? I printed the envelopes and tags myself and taped them together using double stick tape.

Advent Sign Steps:

  1. Print the Advent template and cut it out (cardstock is a good option)
  2. Trace your Advent template onto your chipboard
  3. Cut out your chipboard advent sign (the e inside of the is the toughest part)
  4. Paint one entire side in glitter glue
  5. Cover in glitter and dump excess and let dry
  6. Repeat steps 4 & 5 until you can't see cardstock anymore
  7. If you want - spray with a clear enamel spray paint to keep the glitter in place
  8. Let dry
  9. Place under a book to help flatten (the glue will warp the cardstock a little)
  10. Use double stick tape or hot glue to attach to your calendar backdrop
