DIY Cheese Markers
Grab a section of clay and divide into four equal balls
Roll the balls gently in your hand or on the table into even “ropes”
Slowly flatten the rolled ropes into long flat strips. About 1/4”-1/8” in thickness
Using a ruler or template as a guide cut straight edges with an X-acto knife. Make a shallow point at one end of each piece.
Using your cookie cutter template gently press into your markers your desired cheese names.
Gently lift cheese markers off cutting mat and place evenly spaced on your cookie sheet. Cook according to directions.
Lightly sand edges with sandpaper and clear off excess materials thoroughly.
Gloss with glaze paint of choice and let set overnight.
I loved how these turned out, but want to make sure it’s clear they are very delicate. I had never worked with oven bake clay before (or at least not since childhood). They are still surprisingly flexible and I worried I would break them if I just jammed them straight into the cheese without being really careful. They also should be washed very gently as well and not put in a dishwasher or microwave.
Beechers Flagship is always a staple in all my charcuterie spreads ;)
