Homemade Mini Churros
We're all about those vegan desserts around here! These are super simple and really tasty, but take a bit of multi-tasking skills. You'll want a kitchen thermometer, and a large piping kit.
Churro Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 2.5 tablespoons sugar
- .5 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup flour
- 2 quarts oil (for frying)
Sugar Coating Ingredients:
- .5 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat combine water, sugar, salt, and oil
- Bring to a boil and then remove from heat
- Add flour, stirring until mixture forms a ball
- Spoon mixture into piping bag with preferred piping tip (my fave)
- Heat 2 quarts oil in deep fryer or a deep skillet until oil reaches 375 degrees
- In separate bowl mix cinnamon and sugar for sugar coating
- Place a paper towel on a plate between sugar mix and fryer
- Pipe strips of dough into fryer (I use kitchen scissors to cut the lengths as I pipe into the oil)
- Fry each strip until golden brown
- Place fried strips onto paper towel to drain
- Toss in cinnamon sugar mix until desired coating consistency is reaches
- Enjoy
