Homemade Mini Churros


We're all about those vegan desserts around here! These are super simple and really tasty, but take a bit of multi-tasking skills. You'll want a kitchen thermometer, and a large piping kit.

Churro Ingredients: 

  • 1 cup water
  • 2.5 tablespoons sugar
  • .5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 quarts oil (for frying) 

Sugar Coating Ingredients:

  • .5 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon


  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat combine water, sugar, salt, and oil
  2. Bring to a boil and then remove from heat
  3. Add flour, stirring until mixture forms a ball
  4. Spoon mixture into piping bag with preferred piping tip (my fave)
  5. Heat 2 quarts oil in deep fryer or a deep skillet until oil reaches 375 degrees
  6. In separate bowl mix cinnamon and sugar for sugar coating
  7. Place a paper towel on a plate between sugar mix and fryer
  8. Pipe strips of dough into fryer (I use kitchen scissors to cut the lengths as I pipe into the oil) 
  9. Fry each strip until golden brown
  10. Place fried strips onto paper towel to drain
  11. Toss in cinnamon sugar mix until desired coating consistency is reaches
  12. Enjoy
