Household Yearly Planner

I don’t know about you but becoming a parent has felt very similar to jumping into the deep end of the pool after 1 hour’s worth of swim lessons. Sure you’ve read the books and you’ve talked to other parents, but then suddenly you have a baby and the nurses and doctors are all letting you JUST GO HOME WITH SAID NEWBORN on night two of recovering from a major medical procedure (aka birth). From then on it’s just google, frantic emails to your pediatrician, and contradictory advice from your friends, in-laws, and random strangers at the grocery store.

Now I’m four kids deep at this point and I still feel like I’m just barely keeping my head above water when it comes to staying on top of the bare minimum household duties. I’m a SAHM so that pressure to “keep house” and know what I’m doing feels even more so…because this is technically my “job”, right? However, for the most part I have found that I am basically only “in the know” by the grace of parents with older children. Parents who tell me things like “oh, preschool sign ups begin in JANUARY” or “yes, the Facebook page is where the elementary school EXCLUSIVELY makes all of its announcements” (insert Jackie Chan wtf meme here). Also did you know that you need to winterize your hoses…even in the PNW? Or that the good Christmas light installers start getting booked A YEAR in advance? Yeah, neither did I. Or if I did, I didn’t think about it until it was literally happening.

Now that I KNOW all these things it feels near impossible to remember them in a timely manner. I mean really, who is thinking about buying ski gear in March? Not me. I’m thinking about what is literally right in front of my face, because I have four small children and a small business to run. Anyways, all that to say I decided to make a planning document. Someplace I could have a bird’s eye view of the year. It would have not only major important dates in the months that they occur, but also reminders 1-3 months out from said important dates. That way I can actually plan ahead. Proactive instead of reactive right?

I also decided to share it with you all. I have included the one I made for my family with dates we’ve deemed important, as well as a blank one you can fill out yourself. I spent way too long figuring out how to make an editable PDF so I hope you love it!

Download your own blank version here. It should be editable in Adobe PDF Reader!
